Result of the Over 70’s match on Alders on 9th Sep.

K Rolfe 11-6-0, B Pallett 6-15-0, K Haines 4-9-0, K Cole 2-7-0, T Wirth 2-6-0, D Smith 1-9-0, H Sadler 1-6-0, S Pallett 0-15-0, W Bowsher 0-11-0.  For some reason the Bream and Tench, which Alders is famous for did not show.   Brian Pallett and Ken Haines managed to get one and Ken Rolfe, on peg 1, had three and two small Tench.    The rest of the field tried in vain to find the big fish and had to settle for catching what they could.Result of the Over 70’s match on Dobsons on 2nd September 2026.

D Smith 16-15-0, R Wiggins 13-8-0, W Bowsher 10-0-0, K Haines 2-0-0, S Pallett 1-4-0, S Myers 1-2-0, M Burrows 0-15-8, T Wirth 0-4-0, K Cole 0-1-0.   Alf Megarry, Brian Pallett and Keith Hallis DNW.   It was a case of big fish or bust on a wet and windy (not said that for a while!) Dobsons. The top three all caught big fish Dave Smith and Richard Wiggins were on the favoured island swims and made the best of a good draw.    Dave had 2 Carp and a Bream, Richard had 2 Bream and a Carp.   Bill Bowsher had a late Carp to earn him good points.

16 anglers for the Over 70’s may be a reflection of the demographic of the club.  The top two sat next to each other in the 50’s and caught Carp. Dave Smith and Bill Bowsher were on the other side of the lake with Dave netting 2 Carp and a big Bream all on pole with Bill catching Carp.
