Alders Lake

Brief description of fishery:

Alders lake is approximately 1.2 acres and has 25 pegs, three of which have wheelchair platforms. The main species are tench and bream, both typically to 5lbs, but Alders also holds roach, rudd, perch and small carp with the occasional rogue larger one, To maintain this as a mixed fishery, any carp caught over 10lb should be carefully transported across the causeway and rehomed on the adjacent Willows lake. The lake was restocked following a catastrophic oxygen crash in 2006. The water was drained and the bed reprofiled to include a submerged central bar which is covered in water lilies in summer.

The shelf that circles the central bar is a popular area to fish from any point on the lake. There is an area of deeper water in the North West corner. Most tree growth is kept down to maintain airflow across the water, though the vegetation behind the south bank can provide the angler with welcome cover from S/SW winds. Waggler, pole and feeder tactics can all be successful, though Alders can sometimes seems a moody lake, with fish hard to find, particularly if the water is clear. This said, there are plenty of fish stocked and good catches are possible should you encounter a feeding shoal.

Special Rules for this fishery:

Fishing is with one rod only even if a two-rod permit is held.
