Hambridge - River Kennet

Brief description of fishery:

This venue stretches for about 400 yards from just upstream of the farm buildings to the pinch point where the river is very close to the canal. Due to vegetation, there is a limited number of accessible swims on this stretch.

The river is generally shallow, and flows strongly, with some varying depths, eddies, slacks and other features especially where the river Lambourn flows in. The stock is mostly roach and dace, with chub, grayling and brown trout. The stretch once produced some mid-sized barbel but these are now sadly few and far between. Fishing is from the south bank only. Trotting with a loafer float can account for good mixed catches

Address

Access & Parking

Parking is at the Bellwood carpark at RG14 2QG from which access is pedestrian by walk across the road to the Clothing Warehouse. Please do not park here. The river is accessed either through the small gap between the far end of the Clothing Warehouse building and its adjacent shipping container, or across the field at the back which gets very overgrown in summer.
